The Abduction of Kelsey by Claire Thompson

0

Book Title: The Abduction of Kelsey
Author: Claire Thompson
Genres: Dark, Erotica, BDSM
Book Links: GoodreadsAmazon
My Rating: ★★★★  4 Stars

Formerly released as: Claiming Kelsey "Embark on a journey along a dark path of erotic control and forced submission."
James Bennett is captivated by his lovely but unattainable coworker, Kelsey Rowan. When she spurns his advances, he unleashes his long-hidden dark passions and takes her by force. Through a regime of erotic training, punishment and domination, James intends to mold Kelsey into the submissive and obedient wife of his dreams.
Kelsey had no idea her mild-mannered boss was secretly and dangerously obsessed with her. Held against her will in a secluded cabin, she is subjected to a relentless barrage of sexual training and mind control, counterbalanced by James' terrifying declarations of love. As Kelsey succumbs to his rigid control, she must summon the will to survive, while edging precariously close to the brink of madness.
Not for the faint of heart, The Abduction of Kelsey is a stark, probing look into the inner workings of a twisted mind, and the courage of one woman who never gives up in the fight to keep her spirit alive.

MY THOUGHTS:

Are you fond of cheesy sweet romance novels with a perfect alpha hero who sweeps the beautiful heroine off her feet, throw in a bit of drama before hearing wedding bells and they live happily ever after? Yes? Well, then, this isn't the book you're looking for. Go on now, look for other books, because you wouldn't find the proverbial rainbows and flowers here, not in any Claire Thompson book for that matter.

Warning: This isn't romance. This isn't a love story.
This is obsession at its finest.

James Bennett is normally the type of guy you would see driving a sleek black sedan or wearing tailored suits. At twenty-nine, he has a good job where he works as Vice President at a large commercial bank. He is at the peak of his career. With a satisfying job career and wealthy living, he is pretty much contented with what he has in his life. Until he sees Kelsey Rowan applying for a job at the office, and his world was turned upside down.

It was as if the two of them spoke a secret, special language. A language that didn't require words or prior knowledge to understand. While he knew it was corny in the extreme, he thought of it as a language of the heart. They were born for one another. She was his soulmate, and as odd as it sounded even to his own ears, he'd known that from the moment he'd laid eyes on her. ~ James

Kelsey Rowan is new at the office. With her gorgeous looks and compelling beauty, men are irresistibly drawn to her. But the last thing she wants is to get involved with someone new. A fresh start is something she's been looking forward to in her new life after a clean break from her past. Little did she know was that one night was all it took, and her life leaps into an abrupt turn to a path that is as dark and terrifying as any.

James has been slowly bidding his time to find the right moment to make his move to the beauty that he couldn't own. Until one night, opportunity comes knocking at his door, and this one in particular he couldn't resist.

The old James was gone, and good riddance. The new James Bennett was a man who took what he wanted—who claimed his woman with sheer, brute strength. Kelsey belonged to him. Whatever he'd dreamed of or planned up to this moment no longer mattered. Kelsey was his and he could never let her go.

"Embark on a journey along a dark path of erotic control and forced submission."

Whenever I read a Claire Thompson book, I get nervous as hell, but all the while feeling thrilled with what she has in store for her novels. And I admit this has been an utterly depressing ride. I find it somehow similar to Enslaved and Obsession: Girl Abducted, the only difference was how the characters were portrayed. Let me just warn you that The Abduction of Kelsey isn't your typical boy-meets-girl romance. This was something darker—a man's deep, intense obsession that started at first sight, and a woman forced to submit to this man against her will.

I love obsessive alpha males in books, but James was nowhere near an alpha, and he was obsessed in a way that would make the hairs at the back of your neck stand. He was an anti hero in every sense of word. The way his twisted mind worked was so sick that it would leave you cringing and wanting to put a bullet in his head. He was so consumed with his obsession for Kelsey to the point of kidnapping her, raping her over and over, and even threatening her with a gun just so she would obey.  At one time he was brutal when losing his temper, and then the next he would feel guilt and would shower her with kindness and "his love and care." In his own sick and twisted way, he loved her. How sick man this man was. The things he did to her were beyond me. It repulsed me, to the point of putting this book down for a moment when the scene was getting worse before continuing it again. James may be a man with sheer strength and brutality, but deep down, he was anything but.

On the other hand, I admire Kelsey. My heart shattered a million times for her in this book but despite everything she has been through with James, in the end, she was the one who was strong enough not to break.

She'd nearly been beaten down, but in the end she'd come alive again, ready to fight, never giving up.

Ms. Thompson is such a great writer and story-teller. Her powerful writing pulled me in and made me feel as if I were with the characters, feeling the onslaught of their pain. I have to say I'm such a huge fan of C. Thompson, I love dark and taboo reads. She's one of the few authors I go to whenever I find myself wanting to delve into the darker side. I've read depressing stories about women who are victims of horrible kidnapping and rape, this book in particular is one I wouldn't forget.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Claire Thompson has published erotic fiction and romance since 1996. Her work includes the sensual exploration of D/s and erotic romance, as well as the darker side of BDSM. Her work includes in-depth exploration of both m/f and m/m relationships, in the context of romance and D/s. She has published over fifty novels and short stories, both in print and ebook format.
It is important to her to write about real people, characters she and her readers come to care about. She doesn't want to simply provide an erotic thrill or evocative description. With her D/s romances she seeks not only to tell a story, but to come to grips with, and ultimately exalt in the true beauty and spirituality of a loving exchange of power. Her darker works press the envelope of what is erotic and what can be a sometimes dangerous slide into the world of sadomasochism. She strives to write about the timeless themes of sexuality and romance, with twists and curves to examine the romantic side of the human psyche. Ultimately her work deals with the human condition, and the constant search for love and intensity of experience.
A successful, independent author, Claire Thompson publishes under the Romance Unbound Publising.

Her Master's Teacher by Lily White

Book Title: Her Master's Teacher
Author: Lily White
Series: Masters #2
Genres: Dark, Erotica, BDSM
Book Links: Goodreads Amazon
My Rating: ★★★★★ 5 Stars!

She caught my attention the first day I was seated in her class.
Her dark red hair fell in waves down her back and her alabaster skin appeared to sparkle under the lights of the lecture hall.
I'd admired her from a distance, never speaking or doing anything to draw attention to myself.
Each day that I spent watching her in this room, I noticed how her eyes would flick up to me. She was wary of me - frightened - and she had reason to be.
Allow me to introduce myself…
My name is Holland Strong and at 21 years old, I'm the youngest Master within a society of wealthy and influential men.
Claire Elliot is my psychology professor in college - that is, at least, until I make her my first courtesan.
She believes she knows everything about how the mind works…
…and I believe I can prove her wrong.

MY THOUGHTS:

Seriously, WTF did I just read?!?!?!??!?!?!

This book right here is the most ultimate mindfuck I've ever read about. Mere words can't even do justice to how freaking brilliant this is. If I could give a book more than 5 stars, I'd give this one a hundred. I think I need a few days or maybe even weeks to recover from this mindfuckery. I was... shit. I was

Meet Holland...

I resemble innocence, even though I am anything but...
Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Holland Strong and at 21 years old, I'm the youngest man training to be a Master within a society of wealthy and influential men.
Claire Elliot is my psychology professor in college; that is, at least, until I make her my first courtesan.
She believes she knows everything about how the mind works and I believe I can prove her wrong.
This journey will be a test of intellectual superiority and Claire will be the ultimate challenge...

And meet Claire...

I silently scolded myself for any of the emotions I'd allowed to slowly consume me regarding this particular student. He was just another beautiful face within a sea of people I was hired to teach.
He was not a man I could allow myself to admire.
He was not a man I could allow myself to want.
But most of it all, he was not a man about whom I needed to worry.
He was a student. I was his teacher.
It was as simple as that.

I honestly believe that Holland was one of the biggest surprises there was in this book. Aiden also played a major role in this book, being the devil himself, and so did Rebecca. I absolutely adored Claire's character. But Holland... I thought I knew him all along, but then, it turned out his character was unlike anything I'd ever thought he was. I thought I knew what was going on, I thought I had a clue on how this book would end, but Lily White is Lily White. She did a spectacular job in playing with her reader's mind and toying with our emotions. I was a victim who fell over the invisible trap she had put within the confines of her masterpieces. I was as much as a victim as Claire was. This author never fails to blow my mind and make my heart constrict. The twists and turns... the ultimate mindfuck... I admit it was one of the most heart-stopping events I've ever encountered in a certain book. Lily White wakes the darkness that resides within the very depths of my mind and soul and I love her for it. Damn you again, Lily White. I think I'll never get tired of saying those words for you, Ms. author, have captivated me with your brilliant skills and talent as a Dark Erotic writer.

If you loved Her Master's Courtesan, you'll for no doubt love this one! Though I loved this book better than the first one. Now I'm anxious and definitely excited in reading about the other masters! I hope the next book in this series comes out soon (if there is a next one).

Her Master's Teacher is the second book to Lily White's Masters series and can be read as standalone.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Lily White is a dark writer who likes to dabble on the taboo side of eroticism. Most of the time she can be found wandering around aimlessly while her mind is stuck in some twisted power play between two characters in her head. You may recognize her in public by the confused expression, random mumbling, and occasional giggle while thinking up a scene. Lily's favorite things in life are reading, thinking about reading, buying books for reading....and writing. Her other secret pleasure is meeting with her plot editor in public to discuss her books and watching the shocked expressions of the people around her that don't realize she's talking about a book. When Lily is not reading, writing, wandering or freaking out innocent bystanders, she's sleeping.

I’m not sure what I was thinking that day. It was a normal Thursday, nothing new or exciting had occurred in the morning. I’d risen from bed, taken a shower and brushed my teeth. I’d then jumped on the 8:05 bus that ran a short distance between my house and the county library where I worked. The ride took its usual 15 minutes before it left me standing fresh faced in front of a building of gothic construction that was my favorite place in the world. After straightening my knee length skirt, I pushed open the door that led into the interior of the library. It was at that moment that my world would change – impossibly and forever. It was a fateful movement of wood that collided with the shoulder of a man that would alter my very existence. It wasn’t fear that I felt at that moment – more like the feeling of being watched. It was the feeling of knowing that danger lurks - the sensation of the hair standing on end at the back of your neck.Looking back on a moment that happened so many months ago, I now realize that I should have listened to that feeling. As I would later find out, the man standing in front of me referred to himself as Master Lucas……and I was his next target.

This life isn’t one that I chose for myself. Years spent as a daughter in the Dominion MC left me washed up and struggling to breathe. Life was never flowers and sunshine. It was gravel and dust, the trails of dirt left behind when the brothers tore out, floating up from the ground to hover in front of an angry, red sun.I could never have imagined that a life sitting at rock bottom could get any worse, but it did. Life is funny like that.Just when you think things can’t get any more bleak, a shade is drawn leaving you staggering and blind – lost in a world of heartache and sorrow.I met J.D. Brooks on the road and he swept me off my feet. Literally. But not in the way you might think. He was both an angel and a demon. He was the most vicious storm that ever darkened my life.He was also my salvation.Stripped from the hands that always held me back, I was released into a nightmare that would threaten everything I thought I knew about the crap hand I’d been dealt.I thought I could never hate a man more than the one who stole me from the life I’d known. And in our time together, he would teach me one important lesson:That in the end, it doesn’t matter how our paths intersect, because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives... ..we’re all stuck traveling down hard roads.

Words are funny things.Their meaning, the pictures they paint in the minds of those that hear them: they’re not always the same and to me at least, that makes them meaningless.Take for instance the phrase ‘black widow’. Those words conjure the image of a spider, an eight-legged creature with the red imprint of an hourglass on its abdomen. However, instead of speaking of an arachnid, of the resident of a spindly and dew-laden web, the people who whisper those words are talking about something much different. They’re talking about me.From what I’m told, I’m called the Black Widow because no man I’ve ever loved has survived.Yet, I have no memory of any of it.My new home leads me to the definition of another vague and meaningless word. It’s a place where I’m supposed to seek refuge.A place of retreat and security. It’s a place where I’m supposed to be kept safe because I’m sick. But the definition for this place is wrong and the word becomes meaningless when you’re tucked away and made silent by drugs and pretty white jackets. My name is Alexandra Sutton and this is the story of what happened when I was imprisoned inside an Asylum.

MY THOUGHTS:

5 "Insanely Sick Fucked Up Twisted Demented Mind Fuck" stars.

Holy. Fuck. I need a minute to calm my nerves. Okay. I don't even know what possessed me to like this. I didn't connect much with the characters (since the heroine was fucking dumb and stupid and the hero as well as his fucking brother and stupid fuck of a father were a freaking psychopath with severe mental issues), the time setting was a bit off (considering how fast one scene jumped to another), and there were some messed-up scenes that I found myself grimacing at times. I understand that a lot of people didn't like the book. But it worked for me. Call me crazy but I loved this book. I loved the extreme dark elements and how it almost made my heart burst. To those who'll read this in the future, READ THE DAMN BLURB for your own sake. Do not read this if you're averse to kidnapping, rape, impregnation, dubious consent, a psychopath with severe mental illness, abuse, incest, and a lot more. You certainly won't find sunshine and roses here.

My husband’s dead and I've been kidnapped.
Years ago, I stole money from the Dragons MC club and ran. Against all odds, I picked myself up. Became sober. Got married.
But then he found me
Now I belong to Cain—a ruthless, loveless man who’s intent on making me his obedient slave. He’s done unspeakable things to my body, tortured me, and broken me down so that I’ll never betray him. And I wouldn't have...
Until Spike came along.
He’s rough around the edges, but warm. When he kisses me, I feel alive. I’ve never been in love, but Spike is all I've ever wanted. When I’m around him, all bets are off. I’m falling for him and I can’t hide it anymore.
If Cain finds out, he’ll kill us both.

MY THOUGHTS:

And this has got to be one of the most suspenseful MC novels ever written in the history of MCs. It's full of angst and almost 90% of the book is action-packed. Oh and that bizarre love triangle... I'm hesitant at first to read this because I'm not really a fan of love triangles in books. I'm kind of worried that there's an MFM scene or menage here like other MC novels, but I'm surprised there's none.

Of all the books I've read, quite frankly I don't think I've ever read a heroine more horrible than Julia. I wouldn't go into details since I don't want to spoil the book, but just so you know, Julia isn't your average heroine.

And Cain, the insanely sadistic VP of the Dragons MC, I hated this man's fucking guts. No, he is not the hero of the story. More like an anti-hero. The only bright, good thing about this book is Spike, the club's prospect and hero of the story. This man, I fucking love. I just love that whenever he's around, he always try to make the mood light. His character is the light to the darkness in this book. Even though he often go with Cain with their killing sprees, this guy still has a big heart in him. He doesn't hurt women unlike Cain, and I love that he is willing to do anything to protect and save Julia from the hell they live in.

Now, what I didn't like...

To be perfectly honest, I am not very fond of the author's writing style in this book.

Hmmmm meh. I just find the writing style confusing and at times, annoying. There's just too many damn inner thoughts in italic form coming from the POVs of either Julia, Cain, or Spike *sighs* I really think that it's not necessary to italicize those one-sentence inner thoughts since the story is written in 1st person POV of the 3 MCs. Sorry for making this an issue!*hides face and runs away*

That being said, I would say that I still enjoyed reading this book. I liked the whole premise of the story, though I find some scenes too over the top. And the ending was slightly unrealistic. This book wasn't that amazing, but it wasn't that bad either. I was basically torn in between and I find this an "okay" read. It didn't pull me in that much, but I still liked the dark elements and the intensity of most scenes.

This isn't your average MC book. It's dark, brutal, violent, and will definitely have you gripping at the edge of your seat the entire time. This author can sure-as-hell write an awesome dark book, and I'll definitely read more of her works.

What more can I say? Lovers of dark biker novels will surely enjoy this one!
